Cemaphore Announces Version 2.3 of MailShadow® Solution for Disaster Recovery and Microsoft Exchange Continuity

Cemaphore Systems™, the industry's leading provider of e-mail continuity and content management, today announced the new 2.3 version of its flagship MailShadow® Enterprise solution for Microsoft Exchange continuity and disaster recovery. MailShadow 2.3 gives enterprises the ability to protect, replicate, and fail over and back thousands of individual mailboxes between geographically diverse, active, running Exchange servers, within minutes.

MailShadow 2.3 allows organizations wishing to manage their own internal email continuity infrastructure to meet the fastest, fully-populated Exchange mailbox recovery time objective (RTO) in the industry. MailShadow delivers under-10-minute RTO, with the first ShadowMailboxes™ available to Outlook users in seconds. Further, MailShadow 2.3 mailbox transaction replication delivers an Exchange mailbox user data recovery point objective (RPO) of less than 10 minutes. The real-time RPO status per user is viewable in the MailShadow management console. For enterprise customers with hundreds of Exchange mailboxes to protect, MailShadow 2.3 delivers new management automation, RPO status per-mailbox, and dynamic scalability. A single pair of MailShadow gateways can protect up to 5,000 mailboxes. MailShadow is widely used across many vertical industries, including financial, government and legal services. MailShadow takes a unique approach to messaging continuity by replicating transactions from selected mailboxes to corresponding ShadowMailboxes on an active recovery Exchange server in a remote location. Mailbox data is replicated and transmitted across the WAN without heavy Exchange server and bandwidth demands that are inherent in other disaster recovery solutions. Furthermore, MailShadow can be streamlined to protect only the mailboxes essential for messaging continuity, which further minimizes the resources required.

Additional new features in MailShadow 2.3 include:

  • Real Time RPO Status per Mailbox: Check the current RPO of your CEO's mailbox, other VIPs, or all users, as protected by MailShadow 2.3.
  • Enhanced Firewall Support: Network ports can be configured to work in environments having multiple offices with firewalls.
  • Embedded Monitoring and Enhanced Diagnostics: MailShadow monitors key performance metrics and notifies IT in the event of issues and Exchange unavailability. Enhanced diagnostics now include total mailbox item and folder counts, as well as folder resynchronization capabilty.
  • Automated Site Survey Tool: This function makes MailShadow deployment planning and installation easier than ever, particularly for enterprises with complex Exchange and Active Directory infrastructure.
MailShadow 2.3 and professional services are available from Cemaphore or through Cemaphore channel partners. Pricing varies with numbers of mailboxes included in the disaster recovery model.
