Cemaphore Systems Announces MailShadow 1.0 Delivering Exchange Transaction Caching

MailShadow is the First Application-Specific Remote Office Cache

Orlando, Florida (Microsoft Exchange Connections 2004) - October 25, 2004

Cemaphore Systems™, a leading provider of Messaging Services Management (MSM) solutions, today announced that it has released MailShadow™ 1.0. MailShadow enables organizations to cache Exchange transactions at remote sites allowing them to consolidate and centralize Exchange servers. MailShadow eliminates the need for remote office Exchange servers.

“Cemaphore has developed the first application-specific cache for remote offices,” said Tyrone F. Pike, CEO of Cemaphore Systems. "Unlike network caches that focus on data, MailShadow interacts with Exchange at the transaction level delivering LAN-speed performance for WAN-connected Outlook clients in remote offices.”

MailShadow replicates all Exchange content, including calendars, contacts, Public Folders and remote user mailboxes, onto a low-maintenance server in the remote site. When the remote user opens Outlook, all content is viewed directly from the MailShadow cache, eliminating the time—and bandwidth—normally required to transfer data from Exchange over a high-latency WAN.

“With MailShadow, when receiving email and viewing your mailbox the difference is very notable and it’s like having Exchange on the local network,” said Robert Parker, Senior Manager - IT Operations Europe of World Fuel Services. “I would recommend that companies, who are centralizing their Exchange servers and have remote offices, take a look at MailShadow.”

With MailShadow, users in remote sites don’t suffer the pain associated with most Exchange centralization projects. Users continue to work in Outlook at LAN speeds while the centralization project moves forward, no matter how long it takes to upgrade servers and desktops.

“There are application-oriented caching solutions coming to market that maintain the logical structure of the distributed application services, without the license and administration overhead,” said R. Lynn Nye Jr., Founder and President of APM Advisors. “It’s the logical or application orientation of solutions like MailShadow that provide strong performance results and bring with it operational transparency.”

MailShadow is Microsoft Certified and is deployed on a Windows server at each remote site. The price is an annual fee for each Outlook client using the Exchange transaction cache.
